“Cashier” 3.6/5 BARKS.*
Something I can say about “Cashier” by Trill Dawg is that it has the type of sound I’ve mentioned in previous postings that makes it seem like your best friend laid a track, and you’re hearing it for the first time.
I understand the appeal of this song this winter, the hook and the beat that is laid out for us is repetitive, easy to remember, and flows well enough that it will be remembered for this time of year.
You know that feeling you get when you hear a song, that you know will fit right into the season? That’s “Cashier“. The downside to Cashier is in my opinion? It doesn’t break records. It isn’t particularly mind-blowing, but I don’t want to take Trill Dawg out of the conversation. Especially since his sound when he is solo is easily recalled and sets him apart from other talents of this decade. He’s incredibly talented, you can hear it on his track “No Regrets” with our recently covered artist Ol’ Magik. I like Trill Dawg’s sound, it has marketability, it’s easy to listen to. I think as he continues to grow as an artist we’ll hear bigger and better things.
While Cashier might not be my personal favorite, I will say, I’ve been quoting “No Regrets” for over 12 hours.
I want to see Trill Dawg continue, he’s going to grow, these lyrics are going to grow, but that beat signature I hope never changes. He has that crown by a mile.
